How does Job Corps work?

Interested youth voluntarily apply to join the Job Corps program through an Admissions Counselor.
If eligible, applicants are assigned to a Job Corps center near their home or the closest one that
offers their career training needs. While on center, students receive career training, as well as
work-based learning to enhance their employability skills. Job Corps is a self-paced program and
lengths of stay vary. Students can remain enrolled for up to two years, but on average, graduates
stay about 11 months. Upon graduation from the Job Corps center, students continue to receive
support services for employment, continued education, or the armed forces. Services and support
follow the graduate for 12 months after they get a job.

Job Corps is a free program to eligible youth, and there's no catch! It's free and you earn a living
allowance while on center as well as transitional monies upon graduation. Where else can you
earn while you learn? Make Job Corps work for you!
